Bright Star Community Outreach is committed to empowering the community’s residents with the skills and resources needed to be successful.  It accomplishes its mission through its 5 pillars: Parent Education; Advocacy; Counseling; Mentoring; and Workforce Development. The cornerstone to BSCO’s success is implementing proven-effective practices, as shown by its use of the NATAL model.

The Israeli NATAL model is infused into its offerings in dealing with the trauma experienced by community residents.  NATAL is an apolitical nonprofit organization that specializes in the field of war and terror related trauma. NATAL aims to advance the resiliency of Israeli society through treatment, prevention, public awareness and research.  BSCO recognizes the similarities between the trauma experienced by those in Israel and those impacted by violence in Chicago and uses that knowledge to leverage the best resources to serve its residents.
